Notary Record
Giovanni Battista senior
Zani Giovanni Battista of Filippo, notary of Bologna, from 1719 to 1746 has as a seal with a small shield in the form of an upside down pyre framed by two crossed poles and knotted by a strip with the initials IBZN. Above this, there is a feathered helmet crossed by a strip with the motto Fortif ut leo (Fortify yourself to be as strong as a lion). Inside the shield, there are three lilies facing the observer and a lion rampant looking left with its front part in black. The background of the lion is in silver. The rest of the shield is silver with a black background.
This seal was used later by Marco Felice Zani (Bettini?) and was deposited in the archives where you can find it at number 55.
Filippo Zani married Angela Rivani (he was born from Sebastiano and Clemenza Silvagni on
October 30, 1649 in the Parish of San Biagio). He married Rivani on April 24, 1690 from whom was born Battista on April 7, 1697 and who was baptized the following 8th in the Parish of San Donato. He studied Grammar for 5 years with Raimondo Cavallino, and Law with Vincenzo Sacchi.
He became notary on June 21, 1719 and appeared immediately in the Cancelleria Maggiore del Legato in the civil forum office number 14 (under the surname of Bettini).
In 1741, he stipulated the announcements of the Cardinal Alberoni for the Calzolari society, of the Nuns of San Pietro Martire, and of Santa Maria della Carità.
He stipulated the announcements for the following families… (list of names) … and many for the Moreschi family.
He lived in Santa Margherita in 1722 and then in Santa Maria della Baroncella with his brother Don Sebastiano.
Notice that he never signed Bettini and that in the sentences he always signed Zani.
He married Maria Nicoletta Moreschi in 1731 from whom Marco Felice was born in 1736. He was the corrector for the third trimester in 1740.
This act belongs to Enrico Magnoni and probably to his son and grandson.
